Jeffrey HUBBARD

Jeff Hubbard is the head of the Patch-Clamp laboratory at Neuroservice.

Jeff, originally from California, has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and received a PhD in Neuroscience from the laboratory of Dr. Paul Brehm at the Vollum Institute (Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, Oregon) where he combined whole-cell patch-clamp recordings with single-cell calcium imaging to investigate calcium sources responsible for synchronous and asynchronous synaptic transmission. He subsequently moved to Paris to undertake a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Claire Wyart at the Brain and Spine Institute (ICM, Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle Epiniere). There he combined the power of optogenetics with classical electrophysiology to dissect GABAergic circuits in the spinal cord.

Jeff has over 6 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries where he worked for Theravance Biopharma and Servier Laboratories on a wide range of projects including antimicrobials, asthma/COPD, neuropathic pain and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Two of these programs yielded molecules which are currently marketed worldwide (Televancin for gram-postitive infections and Breo for asthma/COPD).
